For our project, our group had decided on a fantasy genre. this element like all genres, had traits that were invidual to the specific category/genre.
A quote from the fantasy genre page on filmsite.org states: 'Fantasy films are often in the context of the imagination, dreams, or hallucinations of a character or within the projected vision of the storyteller. Fantasy films often have an element of
magic, myth, wonder, escapism, and the extraordinary. They may appeal to both children and adults, depending upon the particular film'
Such elements of escapsim can exist in the form of:
- Magic
- swordplay
- magic carpets
- magic creatures such as elves,dwarves, dragons, and pretty much anything that you could make up; ranging from the most timid and beautiful wonders to bloodthirsty vicious terrors.
